It all starts from love. I have loved storytelling and film ever since I remember myself but I realized I wanted to become a film director only after I graduated Law school. I then started making my own shorts and I got my master’s in Film and Cultural Studies. I took part in many feature and documentary film productions and at the same time I was working as a lawyer. I soon realized that I empathized with my clients and I got interested in their stories more than I should. The idea of helping heal people’s trauma became crucial to me. I saw that I could achieve this with my films because film is a means to communicate with mass audiences and can help people heal by reaching their subconsciousness. I quit my job as a civil attorney and focused completely on filmmaking. Currently I’m pursuing my MFA in Film Directing at CalArts.

With my films I explore human nature. Scenes of everyday life always intrigued me, as I have noticed that it is during life’s most trivial moments that we catch ourselves unawares and glimpse inside our souls. I mainly get inspired by stories about people’s fears and weaknesses as well as by stories about people who are in conflict with themselves. I am interested in the way in which internal conflict is manifested on human body and especially, female body. My films explore women’s psyche and the way in which that reflects on female body. I am especially interested in changing the way female body is depicted on screen. With my work I want to help women redefine their relationship with themselves as it has been deeply traumatized by the patriarchal structure of our society and culture. In the end, I know that no film can change the world. Only people can. However, I believe that my films will inspire people and especially women to change the way they perceive themselves, their feelings, and their gaze towards other women who currently live and struggle around us.
